FAQs
PMHA has been established as a national platform to strengthen collaboration, alignment and advocacy across the perinatal mental health sector.
While it brings together organisations from across the sector, its role is not to replace or override existing organisations. Instead, it aims to support collective impact by providing a unified national voice and enabling shared initiatives that benefit the sector as a whole.
For 2026, there are no changes to how PMHW is delivered.
- The campaign will continue to be delivered as usual
- PMHA is subcontracted by Gidget Foundation Australia (campaign lead) to deliver the work on behalf of the consortium consisting of Gidget Foundation Australia, Peach Tree and Perinatal Wellbeing Centre.
- The structure, approach and partner involvement remain the same
- Funding and campaign execution are unchanged
The key evolution is that PMHA will provide strategic leadership and governance as the new campaign lead moving forward.
Your involvement in PMHW remains as valued and important as ever.
Partners can expect:
- Continued collaboration and co-design opportunities
- Ongoing visibility and participation in the campaign
- A consistent approach for 2026 as in previous years
There are no additional requirements or changes to your current level of involvement however you are encouraged to engage further, should you wish!
PMHA has been established to lead delivery of PMHW.
In time, PMHA will support the sector beyond the annual campaign with initiatives such as:
- National advocacy and policy engagement
- Ongoing collaboration and knowledge sharing
- Development of future projects to improve outcomes in perinatal mental health
This creates a more continuous and connected approach across the year.
No.
Organisations can continue to participate in PMHW regardless of whether they choose to become PMHA members. Membership is an additional opportunity, not a requirement.
Further information on PMHA membership and opportunities for involvement will be shared in the coming months. Organisations can register their interest online here.
In the meantime, partners are encouraged to:
- Save the dates for PMHW 2026
- Continue planning their involvement in the campaign
- Reach out with any questions
Gidget Foundation Australia, Peach Tree and Perinatal Wellbeing Centre are founding members of PMHA. Other organisations who participate in the perinatal mental health sector can apply to become alliance members of PMHA.
Further information on PMHA membership and opportunities for involvement will be shared upon enquiry via the website.
This decision reflects the opportunity to align PMHW within a broader national framework, ensuring:
- Stronger coordination across the sector
- Greater consistency in messaging and advocacy
- Enhanced opportunities to grow impact over time
Importantly, this builds on the collective success of the consortium model rather than replacing it.
Yes. Collaboration remains at the heart of PMHW.
The co-designed campaign will continue to reflect the collective contribution of partners across the sector, with brand recognition continuing as part of the campaign approach.
Membership is designed to be:
- Inclusive and accessible
- Away to stay connected and engaged with sector-wide initiatives
Members will have opportunities to:
- Contribute to shaping national priorities
- Participate in collaborative initiatives
- Engage with peers across the sector
To support broad participation, membership will be free for 2026.
PMHA is not intended to replace or compete with existing organisations. Instead, it exists to:
- Support alignment
- Amplify collective impact
- Provide a shared platform for collaboration
Each organisation continues to play its important and independent role within the sector.
